What is 2020 Halloween By Design? 

Halloween By Design is an annual fundraising bash celebrating all things Halloween. This year’s event features two evenings of spooktacular socially distanced drive-in movie experiences highlighted by live music, delicious gourmet treats and festive decor — all to help raise funds for four vital Central Texas nonprofit organizations.

  • Fun opportunities to support four nonprofit organizations serving the Central Texas Community

  • All to be delivered and enjoyed safely from the comfort of your car — the best seat in the house!

When is it? 

Halloween By Design is taking place over two nights.

Your ticket package is good for one film screening only.

Friday, Oct. 23

6:15 p.m. / Little Shop of Horrors (1986) 


Saturday, Oct. 24 

6:15 p.m. / The Addams Family (1991)  

How much are tickets? 

Tickets are $200 per car for up to four persons. The ticket price includes gourmet snacks, libations and treats for up to four guests. Due to limited space this year, tickets are very limited, so be sure to buy yours early!

Are the tickets refundable? 

Your tickets are a non-refundable donation and the event will take place rain or shine. 

What if there are only two of us? 

All ticket packages are for up to four people. If there are less than four of you, you get the same package and there are more treats to go around!


Are there additional ways to give at the event? 

Yes! We will be hosting some fun, interactive fundraising activities at the event. Plus, we are hosting an online auction for the entire month of October featuring one-of-a-kind designer-made witch hats! 


Can we bike or Uber there? 

No, not this year! This is a safe, in-car, socially-distant experience.


How will you ensure safe food service and social distancing? 

All food will be delivered by a carhop via contactless delivery. We will be strictly following all CDC and City of Austin food service and public safety protocols.


Can we make special food orders? 

All vehicles will be served the same treats and eats menu. Unfortunately, there is no special ordering, but there will be plenty of selection for a variety of tastes! 


Is the event family-friendly? 

Yes. Both films are rated PG-13 and the evening can be enjoyed by folks of every age. 

Who are the beneficiaries?

Halloween By Design is proud to support our 2020 nonprofit beneficiaries by raising awareness for the essential services each of the organizations provides to our Central Texas Community and by donating the proceeds of Night at the Drive-In to help further their impact:

Should we dress up? 

YES! The more festive fun, the better! Dress up your car too! Need some inspiration? Check out our Pinterest Board!


Can we get out of our cars? 

All guests are requested to stay in your vehicles throughout the event except to access the restrooms. While outside your vehicle, please wear a mask and maintain 6 ft. of distance from others. 


Are there restrooms on-site? 


Can we bring our pups? 

Doc's does allow dogs at the drive-in. The venue is super dog friendly. There are two lawn areas in the back of the drive-in for the dogs to use the restroom and stretch their legs.  Just remember to follow social distance rules while walking your dogs!

I want to support the nonprofits but I cannot attend the event. Is there another way to get involved?

Why does the receipt for my ticket/donation come from The Shade Project? 

The Shade Project is the fiduciary agent for the event and the proceeds are divided evenly amongst the four beneficiaries.
